Common causes of significant burn injuries

Across the United States there are countless cases of burn injuries, in fact, the American Burn Association (ABA) states that approximately 500,000 burn injuries are seen for treatment in US hospitals each year. With a survival rate of 96.8% a burn injury is undoubtedly one of the most painful injuries, a person can experience and survive through.

Knowing how burn injuries happen and some of the common causes may help you avoid being burned. These injuries happen to many people in many different ways, to better understand how significant burn injuries happen we’ve put together some of the most commonly seen causes.

WHAT CAUSES BURN INJURIES

Flames, electrical issues, and chemicals all contribute to severe burns daily and affect individuals of all ages nationwide. These burns may happen at home or in a large number of places you may travel from day to day.

Some of the burn injuries we have seen are:

Auto accidents - With an automobile comes gasoline and with gasoline may come fire. When an automobile accident occurs it is possible for the gasoline in the vehicle to ignite, causing it to erupt into flames which can severely burn any individuals involved.

Chemicals - When you think of a chemical burn, you may be picturing a mad scientist mixing different chemicals together which ends with a large explosion. Well, chemicals found in your home are more than capable of giving you a nasty burn. Things like bleach, pool cleaner, and many household cleaning products all have the ability to burn you if you aren’t taking proper handling precautions.

Scalding - According to The Burn Foundation, more than 100,000 children are treated annually for a scalding injury. The most commonly seen scalding related injuries are linked to spilling hot food or beverages and scalding from hot tap water.

Defective products - A defective product is an imperfection in a product that may cause danger. Each year there are many products that fail and when the product involves electricity or fuel, a fire may be accompanied.

Flammable gas - The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that in the years 2007 - 2011 flammable gas was estimated to be responsible for starting 51,600 fires. Of these flammable gas fires, there were an estimated 168 deaths with 1,029 injuries.

They got my car paid off very fast, set me up with a doctor, and just last week I got a fat check for my pain and suffering. Thank you MVP!
