Derek Stangeland

Litigation Attorney
Derek Stangeland was born and raised in Washington. He attended Seattle University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with a minor in Political Science. Derek had a clear ambition of becoming a lawyer since his childhood, and subsequently pursued a Juris Doctor degree with a certification in Criminal Law from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California.
During his time in law school, Derek’s rank was in the top 8 percent of students. He also received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, the Whittier Law Review Best Junior Staff Editor Award, and several CALI awards in Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, and Constitutional Law. Derek fully dedicated himself to becoming an attorney and gained invaluable experience through actively participating in the Student Bar Association, Criminal Law Society, Black Law Students Association, and Hispanic American Law Students Association.
Much of Derek’s experience prior to MVP Accident Attorneys involved cases in personal injury, property damage, lemon law, and criminal law. With six years of practice, he has honed his legal skills while working at numerous reputable law firms in Orange County, collecting millions of dollars in settlements for clients.
While not working, Derek enjoys staying active by playing sports and going to the gym, snorkeling, visiting amusement parks, and spoiling his dog.
